Chaplains

  Acolyte

- The Marine is showing great piety and righteousness and is willing to take in more of the Chapter’s Doctrine. They remain at their previous post though they are learning more and more about the Chapter Cult.

- Their robes are adorned with a skull device over their primary heart

 Chaplain’s Apprenta

- The marine has gained a level of mastery on the Dark Angel Doctrine. He is removed from his post and acts as an aide to the Chaplains when not in battle or as the Sergeant of the Command Squad attached to the Chaplain. In return, the Chaplain continues personal instruction of the aspiring Chaplain.

- They remove their all insignias and replace it with a skull and laurel device, this done on both their green armour and robes.

Chaplain

- The marine’s mastery of the Chapter Cult gains the marine the level of Chaplain. He is given the holy Crozius Arcanum and Rosarius. His armor is replaced or modified by the artificers to become a Chaplain of the Dark Angels. They are inducted into the Outer Circle (Level 7 of the Deathwing). They are assigned to a particular company to take over the responsibilities of seeing to the well-being of their Company. They are also responsible for overseeing the training of all marines as well as the Acolytes and Apprenta.

- Chaplains are rarely out of armor except when it is badly damaged from a battle. When they are out of armor, their robes are black and just as terrifying with numerous skulls or bones embroidered or worn. They will also don a death mask except in the privacy of their own sanctum.

OR

 Lion’s (Emperor’s) Champion

- The marine is inducted into the Deathwing’s Outer Circle (Level 7), but instead of donning the Tactical Dreadnought Armor, they don a special suit of black armor. They will act alone on the battlefield challenging the opposing leaders to single combat. NOTE: The Dark Angels rarely dub a Lion’s Champion as their invention came from outside the chapter. In addition, it is tactically unwise to take on any opponent without support. In the rare times they have been dubbed, the marine is already inducted into the Deathwing and is on a secret mission to take down a Fallen Marine where the presence of the Deathwing is unwarranted or impossible.

- The Champion’s robes are black but ornamented with gold and white cording.

Chaplain (Reclusiarch)

– The Chaplain has continued to progress within the Chaplaincy and is taking on more Chapter affecting roles. Along with leading prayers in the Great Hall at the Tower of Angels, they are also responsible for overseeing the Trials to bring new members for the Chapter as well and their training until they are ready for the Scout Company. They will typically remain close to those they see recruited and will watch out for their well-being within the Chapter.

- There is little to differentiate them from Chaplains, though most Reclusiarchs carry a catechism with them to battle with all the prayers of the Chapter along with censers among other things.

 Interrogator-Chaplain

– The Chaplain has either proven a talent to interrogate or has become separated from others within the Chaplaincy and is tapped to become an Interrogator-Chaplain. They are inducted into the Deathwing Middle Circle (Level 4). They also take on the duties of interrogating members of the Fallen (or those with any knowledge of the Fallen).

- The Chaplain switches his black robes for white robes that he wears over his armor. Again, the Chaplain rarely removes his armour. In the rare chance that they are out of armor, they continue to wear their white robes tied with a black rope. They dangle their black pearls (if any) off their rope belt. They continually carry their set of the Blades of Reason.

Master Chaplain (Master of Sanctity)

– The Chaplain is inducted into the Deathwing Inner Circle (Level 3). They can come be a Reclusiarch or an Interrogator Chaplain before being promoted to Master Chaplain. The Master Chaplain has the responsibility to oversee the well-being of all the Chaplains.

- The Chaplain wears plain white robes with the Chaplain insignia. They fight in either Power Armor or Terminator armor.

 Grand Master of the Chaplains

– The most pious, zealous and religious of all the Chaplains, they are typically chosen by their predecessor prior to their death. They oversee all the Chaplains in the Chapter. They are elevated into the second level of the Deathwing.

- The Grand Master replaces the chaplain badge with the Chapter badge. The Grand Master typically fights and preaches in Terminator Armor.

 Supreme Grand Master (General)

- The highest man in the Chapter Chosen by his predecessor prior to their death, he alone can gain access to Luther's cell. Only the Chief Librarian, Grand Master of the Chaplains and the Supreme Grand Master make up the First Level of the Inner Circle.

- The Grand Master removes all ornamentation on his robes and replaces it with the Black Chapter Badge. Only his heraldry on his Right Shoulder Pad and Standard remain. He can be seen on the battlefield by his badges of office - the Sword of Secrets and the Lion Helm.
