2 Lists for Carnage. But which one? - 2006/03/01 05:04 With Carnage coming up, I've been having a couple of warmup games.

Although both forces have performed well, I'm unsure wether to take more dreadnoughts or a land raider.

1st Deathwing list 1,500pts:

Codicier with fury of the ancients, termie armour, storm bolter, stubborn
5 termies with 2 cyclones, tank hunters

6 termies with 1 asscannon, 1 cyclone
6 termies with 1 asscannon, 1 cyclone

1 dreadnought with las/ml, extra armour
1 dreadnought with las/ml, extra armour
1 dreadnought with las/ml, extra armour

2nd Deathwing List 1,500pts:

Epistolary with fury of the ancients, termie armour, storm bolter, stubborn
5 termies with 2 cyclones, tank hunters

6 termies with 1 asscannon, 1 cyclone
6 termies with 1 asscannon, 1 cyclone

1 dreadnought with las/ml, extra armour, venerable, tank hunter

1 land raider with smoke launchers and extra armour

The final choice has to be between these two lists, because this is all I have painted.

Re:2 Lists for Carnage. But which one? - 2006/03/01 07:01 Looking at it (from an inexperienced point of view, granted) I'd go for the LR. 2 low-armor threats or 1 high-armor are probably pretty equivalent, and the LR offers a bit of tactical flexibility with the cover it provides and the transport capacity. Overall I don't see how the lists would perform that differently. With the right revolting piety of tone

Re:2 Lists for Carnage. But which one? - 2006/03/01 08:59 hmmm, i would say eather stick with all assault cannons for the two squads of 6 or have one with 2 assault cannons and one with two missiles. Brother Xeres Signing out

The list with the dreadnoughts has 2 extra missile launchers and is a little more accurate with shooting, but doesn't provide cover for the terminators.

Ditto.

I would go with the top list as well.

Do you have the points to get a Ven dread with Tank Hunter?

Re:2 Lists for Carnage. But which one? - 2006/03/01 12:11 The dreadnought in list 1 is venerable and has tank hunter

Re:2 Lists for Carnage. But which one? - 2006/03/01 18:51 I like the first list personally ... rather have 3 dreads who can take out technically 3 different targets instead of the LR spening 250 points for 1 target at a time devastation.

DEAR LORD ALMIGHTY!! Who in their right mind gave Dark Seer Mod powers!

Seriously DS. I'd go with the first list (my preferance) I think in a tournement environment the flexibility of the three dreads wins out over the ability to block line of sight with your Land Raider.

I would strongly suggest you play this list against another fella though. The Guard army you have fought is optimal for your list. Lots of small easily killable targets. Try it out vs. a Horde, standard IG Ifantry list or a Marine list before you committ. You are use to a Raider so if you choose to go with the Bash Brothers you will need to practice a bit more with them.

Yeah, I need to play against something tougher like marines and see how things go against them.
Their anti tank fire is a lot more accurate.

Re:2 Lists for Carnage. But which one? - 2006/03/02 09:20 I'd say go with the top list DS................three dreads are, as mentioned previously more tactically flexible than the Land Raider

Re:2 Lists for Carnage. But which one? - 2006/03/03 17:51 I'll give the 3 dread list another whirl on Monday against Anvils Hammer.

Or maybe I'll get him to use my Deathwing and I'll use his IG. That'd be interesting.
