Re:What you hope we get in our new codex - 2006/03/15 09:46 My personal hopes for the codex, just because I play a very wierd dark angels army.

-The stalker. I wouldn't mind a Vindicare assassin type, that is the only unit I really wanted to add to my army that right now rules-wise I can't have.

-Big ass swords. my Dark angels I play almost too fluffy. I have to have distinct characters and they are not really armed the most tactically but mainly because all my "special characters" (which are just librarians etc. veteran sergeants and the like) are just really fluffy, as in named, backstory etc... IE: my company first sergeant... He is a veteran sergeant scout, artificer armor, powerfist, combat shield and a CCW... Why? because uhm... he looks really cool like that and everyone at the store I play regularly at fears my scouts... Hell I have the option of fielding an all scout army which I do sometimes... I want big ass swords that don't just count as a CCW.. hell even a +1 to strength would be enough for me to convert something...

-Mixed terminator squads. I need them with a passion.. I love my deathwing assault squad but the tactical options with which to bring them on the field are just very very limited. (6 terms 2xLC 1 Sergeant PW/TH attached chaplain with 2xLC mounted in LRC)

-The Ravenwing, I have almost on 3 seperate occasions have purchased tons of bikes and attack bikes (don't need any more land speeders I have 3 squads of 3) for an all ravenwing army... but to date I haven't just because really they just haven't appealed to me like my deathwing... need some better fluffiness or rules....

-Definately want a BT-style upgrade sprue or an option for more robed ultra-gothic style marines...

-MORE FLUFF. Need it. Want it. NOW.

just my 2 cents.

Re:What you hope we get in our new codex - 2006/04/04 11:28 Mixed Terminator Squads
This would go a long way in helping to redefine the "best of the best".

Special Characters in Terminator Armour
Hello? They're all Deathwing are they not?

Mortis Dreadnoughts
So we all don't have to pay $8000000 for the rules for them.

Dual plasma guns in Tac Squads
Come on! Plasma is OUR STUFF! Plus, this would bring some mobility back into the standard "stand and shoot" squads.

Plasma Predators
'cause you just can't get enough...

Plasma Cannon Terminators?
Maybe? It just popped into my head...

Plasma Bikes? Plasma Drop Pods? Plasma Familiars?

Ok, maye I went a little crazy there at the end...

Re:What you hope we get in our new codex - 2006/04/04 11:43 Not so much about what I want in the codex, but what I want in the form of new models:

Robed terminators... oh my, that would be *drroooool*
Angelis Destructorum

Re:What you hope we get in our new codex - 2006/04/06 17:37 That might be a forgeworld special if anything.

I dislike all this thinking that we are plasma, and thats all. Sure we are the first legion so have more access to these types of weapons. I would rather see a slight point deduction to show this rather then having marines shooting plasma from their eyes.

If the templars are anything too go by we should get a fair bit, and on the upgrade sprue there best be more then one robe!

Re:What you hope we get in our new codex - 2006/04/19 19:07 Hail Brothers,
Personally I too dislike the entire "plasma" thing, I think it was just a way of selling more DA tactical box sets.

Fluffwise it doesnt really fit either, plasma was really only man portable post heresy so just because we are the oldest we get more of it? Id doubt that, also the extra requirements for plasma means that basically a forgeworld is needed (See I believe the planet is Ryza?) I think if you want the DA to "old school" why not allow autocannons or reaper autocannons? As assualt cannons were essentially designed as a replacement for these (So I remember reading somewhere but I guess someone better double check me on this one).

Other stuff Id like to see (other than some of the things already mentioned):
An Elites choice for Ravenwing
Maybe more access to relics due to the age of the Legion
Rules for Fielding Fallen (even if they require consent first)

Just a quick theory as to why I believe the mortis is quite a strong possiblity for the new codex:
Easy to manufacture an extra part and add to the existing dread sprue
Popular with the DA community but a bit pricey on FW
Each chapter (which will have a seperate 'dex) has a unique vehicle of some sort the Baal, Crusader, Exterminator.

My two cents
(and Hi by the way nice site )

Re:What you hope we get in our new codex - 2006/04/25 12:54 How do you guys feel about having a "Fallen" section contained within the new C: DA itself?

It should be similar to the "Adversaries of the Witch/Daemon Hunter" sections in the back of their respective Codices.

I think that this would be the perfect place to put the rules for playing the Fallen.

Re:What you hope we get in our new codex - 2006/04/25 14:02 I agree that an adversaries rules would be fitting for the Fallen. Also the number of people collecting Fallen armies is ever increasing so would be a way to get those who didnt play DA first then collect Fallen to buy the new Codex which would be tempting for GW.

Also there is arguement that it is quite a possibility with Cypher being absent from both the Chaos and IG codex and with his new artwork posted about over the internet that he (probably with his Fallen colleagues) will make an appearance.

The only problem I potentially see is that from my reading of the Fallen they are very much a mixed bag of tricks. Some are mercenaries (Angels of Darkness) some still feel they are loyal to the Emperor (Again AoD) and some quite clearly have turned to Chaos (fluff about Luthor suggests this, as well as the short story Unforgiven in the Deahtwing novels, the Angel of Blades was quite obviously a possessed dreadnought and Cephesus seemed quite chaotic) Im not sure if a short section in an adversaries rules could fully reflect this.

The problem is I want the best of both worlds, I want flexibility but I would also like to see some official rules.

In addition for the DA codex;
May some sort of HS (unless the mortis covers this?) and FA (maybe DW who can always deep strike no matter what) choice for the Deathwing

Re:What you hope we get in our new codex - 2006/04/29 13:22 Only problem I see with Traits for a DA sucessor is that with all teh special rules they are bound to have I think adding a traits system would be a little much and since BTs didnt get anything like that I doubt they will change it.

And they should put the fallen rules in there as well it only makes sense that the DA codex has it ... we are hunting them down.

Re:What you hope we get in our new codex - 2007/09/11 02:00 at most to the plasma bikes i dont think we'll get beyond the 10pt upgrade to have a single plasma gun. but i would definately like to see teh plasma cannon and or ass.cannon as an option for attack bikes.

plasma on drop pods! damm thats a kick ass idea, and i definately wouldnt forget about firein that baby. i think i'll try and model a pintle mounted plasma. plus its been done before as an upgrade to teh s.bolter on the rhino/razorback in the old marine codex so i'll check that for a cost check.
