anyone been to games day? - 2006/03/16 16:38 I'm going to games day in atlanta for the first time.. just curious as to whether I should expect to be paying cash for everything or they can take credit cards... I have had a problem with this before at other conventions and I wouldnt mind being prepared before hand...

Re:anyone been to games day? - 2006/03/16 17:10 Right the last time i went to games day was in 1999 (allthough i bet now that i work for gw they will get me to go along) and while there i found using cash was an advantage as near the end of the day, they would give you some great deals on things.

Personally take the credit card and quite a bit of cash as if like me you have a serious forgeworld fetish the foreworld guys are normally setup for taking credit cards but the smaller purcheses are best done with cash.

Enjoy the day mate and keep your eyes peeled for any new models, at games days they normally eather show some new stuff or slipup and put some models on show .

p.s. do you know if any of the games designers/artists ect will be at that games day, as i found it was great to talk to them.

Re:anyone been to games day? - 2006/03/16 18:21 Remember to take a camera and get us some shoots

I've been attending UK gamesday's from 97 untill last year. I find it easier just too take cash, with stops (if on a coach) and general food/drinks though I usualy just take a bag with that in.

Now then *remembers young witch elf girl.........drool*

Re:anyone been to games day? - 2006/03/17 08:49 Well I will be taking a VERY high end camera, (13 megapixel nikon) so I should have some tasty pictures to share when I get back... good Idea about tha cash too xeres... I forgot about conventions how its easier to sell things at a loss then pay to ship it anywhere after the show...

Re:anyone been to games day? - 2006/03/20 09:14 OK.. (Takes deep breath)

Games day.. whew... 6 1/2 hour drive,

good times had by all anyways although my ears are a bit bloody from all the WAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH! ing... Don't have all my pictures organized yet but will post em when I get the time so for now, text only I guess...

The tables were absolutely BEAUTIFUL. that said, I got a few games in and participated in the Big Battle this year using the new cityfight terrain.. damn. those models are awesome.

Also got a little 1 on 1 conversation in with Graham McNeil a Developer who gave me a bit of info on whats happening with the unforgiven. Apparently its early next year when any of the releases are coming, He said it was a major screw up in 2nd edition when they published the codex and said "The dark angels are keeping secrets" and then spelling out in detail exactly what all of those secrets are. The new codex is going to be like the black templars, don't need the space marine codex anymore and there will be an upgrade sprue box like the templars. He confirmed that they are definately downplaying the Native american theme, and going with the more monkish theme. The Deathwing short story is going to be a legend of the chapter that may or may not have happened, from what I gathered in our 15-20 min conversation basically the new codex is mainly going to add a lot more mystique to the DA while really not going into too much detail as to what ACTUALLY happened. New Character models are planned of course along with a bunch of new rules, according to Graham that there were going to be more defined roles for the Deathwing and the Ravenwing, but he wouldn't go into detail on them. Thats about all I could drag out of him but at leat there is a timeframe, I had to bug the guy for 10 min to get a ballpark figure there... so Early 2007

Golden demon models were awesome, lost of detailed work there, will post pictures when I'm not supposed to be working.

Conversion contest was pretty fun, although if you ever go, be sure to be there for the last session basically you got to keep as many sprues as you wanted after the session ends. (I personally have like 3 unsorted bags of them at home right now. ..)

I spent way too much money at forgeworld, and the lines there were CRAZY... you moved about 10 feet in 20 min. so go early.

I'll go into detail later as well but that should keep you in for the moment, feel free to ask whatever as well...

Re:anyone been to games day? - 2006/03/20 11:32 have my babies

I'm going to put the unforgiven part as news now, and post it up at warseer. Thanks for the report.

[edit] since I'm using this to shamelessly bring people to the site, I'd appreciate it if you guys used the News article thread to talk about the DA portion of UK's report. Just go to the frontpage and click on "Discuss this article in the forums". Feel free to use this thread to talk about the rest of UK's post and his upcoming pictures.

Thanks

Re:anyone been to games day? - 2006/03/20 12:33 yes. I'm late on that, with everyone's entries. They'll all be up by the end of the week though. I was a bit overwhelmed, to be honest. Starting a contest like this right at the point of highet activity at work was probably not such a hot idea. THEN I got sick. *sigh* With the right revolting piety of tone

Re:anyone been to games day? - 2006/03/20 15:07 Nice info urban, even though the traitors on warseer ruined the thread a bit. Personally i dont think gw will pass up a big marine seller at xmas somehow, i mean elder are ok but nothing sells like marines. Brother Xeres Signing out

Re:anyone been to games day? - 2006/03/20 16:55 They could just be trying to throw people of the scent then go "whack" (yep just that nice) DA's xmas!

Nice report, I don't mind waiting a little while longer, but only if it's worth it!

Edit: What is the deal with user aspirant and scout, we don't have a post count, is it something similar?
