 How do you beat Eldar with deathwing? - 2006/03/05 07:35 Possibly the greatest question of all, that has kept many a deathwing player awake at night.

How do you beat starcannon heavy eldar?

Is it even possible?

I've come close, but I've never been able to do it.
My only advice is to take a librarian with Fury of the ancients, as it really makes a mess of light vehicles and soft squishy infantry.

The starcannon is the most cheesy weapon in my view and really against termys or marines the elder player can just sit back and wank over the uberness of his starcannon spam.

In my view if you face a starconnon army then just throw the said army our of the store and say "powergame that" Brother Xeres Signing out

It consisted of 3 rounds and I had massacred both opponents in rounds 1 and 2.
In the final round I was drawn against a Saim Hann player with lots of starcannons and lots of bright lances.

My armylist wasn't quite what it is now, but there was nothing I could do against the guy, except spray and pray that I brought down enough of his vehicles.

Obviously I couldn't call him cheesey and send him out. lol

 Re:How do you beat Eldar with deathwing? - 2006/04/02 17:15 That would probably be a viable option but only a couple of problems that I see with it:

Its going to be hard to pin point your deepstriking with the current rules since I Dont think you can deep stirke onto the enemy position and also if you die in the deep striking process it only hurts you all the more ... so yes it would work if you manage to get all your forces in the aera where you want them ... also assuming the eldar player doesnt move some of his forces to open fire at the first opportune moment...

 Re:How do you beat Eldar with deathwing? - 2006/04/02 19:53 Yesterday I got my butt handed to me on a plate by a Cheese player... uhm... I mean an Eldar player, using 2 14 guardian squads with a starcannon and warlock with conceal and a wraithlord with starcannon and 4 dark reapers with a farseer with guide by their side... (in 1000p) and he had a banshee squad in a wave serpent but he didn't even need to use those.

There was exactly nothing I could do, he got first turn:
- Dreadnought: AssCan destroyed
- Land speeder: destroyed
- One of my tac squads: destroyed

All I had left was a whirlwind, another tac squad, 6 sniper scouts and my assault squad with chappie that got shot to bits in the next turn...

Yeah, that was fun...

Sooooo, any more tactics for Battle companies to deal with cheese... uh... I mean Eldar Angelis Destructorum

Now the Dark Reapers ... not much to do with them I mean they hurt no matter what... you could possibly try to concentrate on them first?

The 2 Guardian Squads those are pretty normal only problem is the Starcannon. Personally I would've worried about the Dark Reapers first, I dont remember their range but was it possible to try to destroy them first?

IMHO, the cheese was that he had tailored his force against marines, while i hadn't tailored it to eldar... ah well... Angelis Destructorum

 Re:How do you beat Eldar with deathwing? - 2006/05/30 09:34 If you thought that 1000 pts was cheesy I have a freind who feilds 6 star cannons and 2 bright lances at 1000 pts 4 x mini max guardian squads with SC, 2 x viper jet bikes with SC and cristal tardeting matrix, 2 x Wraith lords with BL (how I hate wraith lords), and an avater as his HQ. The few the proud the constantly rolling ones
