[Note from Astromarine - I will start this week posting some of our contest entries. Please do not consider them "finished", some of them only need a bit of work others need quite a bit. But I wanted to put them out there, because it's the only way people can give some feedback and authors can change their own work to respond to that same feedback. I hope you enjoy reading these articles as much as I did, and if you do please tell us how we can make them better. That's the reason I made this site in such a flexible way.]
How does a Dark Angel go from a simple recruit to the Grand Master of the Chapter?
This is an article about just that. I give you a series of promotion ladders, shining a bit of light on the rank progression of all aspects of a Marine Chapter.
During the Fall of Caliban, the Fallen Dark Angels were scattered
throughout space and time by the Chaos Gods even though not all of the
Fallen had turned to Chaos. One Angel has taken up his armour to once
again fight for the betterment of the Imperium of Man. All the while,
he continues to remain a fugitive from his brethren, the Dark Angels.
The site has just opened, and as can be seen if you poke around our innards a bit, we're still a bit bare. This has to change! And with your help, it will.
Here's the deal. The Codex is running a contest from now until the end of March. To be specific, until the end of the 31st of March 2006. During this period, you can send in articles. When the deadline ends, I will choose the two best ones from those that were deemed good enough to be published by our editing staff. Those will win our prizes, which are:
A box of "Space Marine Assault Terminators and Land Raider Crusader".
A Dark Angels Tactical Squad box.
I hope you can agree that while not HUGE, the rewards are certainly nice at least. Plus, everyone gets the honor of helping make this site become a good resource for Dark Angel players everywhere.
To participate, send your entries (in Word format, HTML, pure text, whatever you want) to . If you don't have Word, one good option is to download Open Office, as it's free.
Your article can be from any of the following categories. All will be judged equally (which is why I'm not allowing a public vote. A flashy picture can distract people from good but more sober tactical articles, for example, skewingg the results a bit):
Fiction
Painting Guide
Background article, both history and organization
Tactical article
Battle Report
Army Showcase, i.e. a piece including bits and pieces from any and all of the above, relating to your own army
Moreover, this article can focus on any of the four "sides" of the Dark Angels or their successors: Deathwing, Ravenwing, Fallen, and Battle Companies.
